Why is the malfunction indicator light (MIL) on my Toro 74947 on?
    • J
      James AlvarezSep 7, 2025
If the malfunction indicator light (MIL) on your Toro Lawn Mower comes on, there could be several reasons. The engine might be too hot, in which case you should turn it off and let it cool. Old gas in the tank can also trigger the light, so try using new gas. Ensure the fuel-shutoff valve is completely open. A dirty air cleaner can cause this issue, so clean or replace it as needed. Also, check the battery charge and replace the battery if necessary. If the problem persists, it could be due to incorrect or dirty fuel filters, loose connections to the sensors, low battery voltage, or a blown fuse. For fuel filters or sensor issues, contact an Authorized Service Dealer. Ensure you are using a good 12-volt battery and replace any blown fuses.

What to do if the starter does not crank on my Toro 74947 Lawn Mower?
    • P
      pdoughertySep 8, 2025
If the starter on your Toro Lawn Mower isn't cranking, make sure the blade-control switch (PTO) is disengaged and the parking brake is set. Ensure the motion-control levers are in the NEUTRAL-LOCK position and that you are seated. A dead battery can also prevent the starter from cranking, so charge it. Check the electrical connections for good contact, as corrosion or looseness can be the issue. Finally, inspect the fuse and replace it if it's blown.
