DoNotrefuelorrunengineunlesssparkarrester
isinstalled.
1.Stopengine,waitforallmovingpartstostop,and
removekey.Engageparkingbrake.
2.Waitformufertocool.
3.Ifanybreaksinthescreenorweldsareobserved,
replacethearrester.
4.Ifpluggingofthescreenisobserved,removethe
arresterandshakelooseparticlesoutofthearrester
andcleanscreenwithawirebrush(soakinsolventif
necessary).Reinstallarresteronexhaustoutlet.

InspectingtheLPGSystem
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily—ChecktheLPG
tankandcomponents.
Every40hours—ChecktheLPGhoses,regulatorand
connections.
ItisveryimportanttochecktheLPGtankandcomponents
forwearorleaks.
Important:Nevercheckforleaksusinganopename.
Important:Neverusebarehandswhencheckingthe
ttingorvalve.EscapingLPGvaporandliquidfreezes
skinoncontact.
•Inspectingbeforeeachuse:
–Visuallyinspectthetank,hose,andttingandbealert
toafoulodorcomingfromthetank.
–TheLPGtankshouldbefreeofdentsordamage.
Ifthetankshowsignsofdentsordamage,replace
itimmediately.
–Checkthevalveandttingopeningsfordirtand
debris.
–Slowlyopenthevalveallthewayandlistenfora
continuoushissfromtheregulator,itmayindicate
aleak.
–LPGhasarotteneggorskunksmelladdedtoitto
helpdetectagasleak.Ifyoudetectagasleak:
◊TurnofftheLPGvalveifyoucansafelydoso.
◊Leavethearea.
◊Contacttrainedandqualiedpersonnel
immediately.
–DoNotuseifthehosesareabraded,damaged,
kinked,orattened.
–Makesurethetankissecurelymountedtothemower.
Ifthetankisloose,thehoseorttingsmayleak.
•Inspectingwitheachtankchange:
–Checkallgauges,ttings,andvalvesfordamage.
–Lookfordeterioration,damagedormissingo-rings
ontankconnectiontting.
–InspecttheLPGtankandthefuelconnectionjoint
forleaks.Usethefollowingprocedurebelowto
detectleaks:
◊Applyanapprovedleakdetectorsolution,
obtainedfromatrainedandqualiedLPG
distributor,orathicknon-ammoniasoapywater
solution(50%non-ammoniasoapand50%
water).(Aleakdetectorsolutionthatcontains
ammoniawillcausethettingstocorrodeand
leak.)
