•AlwaysremoveboththeignitionandKeyChoice
keysandputtheminasafeplaceoutofthe
reachofchildrenorunauthorizeduserswhen
youleavethemachineunattended.
1.Engagetheblades(PTO).
2.InserttheKeyChoicekeyintotheswitch(Figure13).
3.TurntheKeyChoicekey.
Aredlightonthefrontconsole(Figure14)turns
on,indicatingthattheinterlockisdisabled.

TestingtheSafetyInterlock
System
CAUTION
Ifthesafetyinterlockswitchesaredisconnectedor
damaged,themachinecouldoperateunexpectedly,
causingpersonalinjury.
•Donottamperwiththeinterlockswitches.
•Checktheoperationoftheinterlockswitches
dailyandreplaceanydamagedswitchesbefore
operatingthemachine.
Testthesafetyinterlocksystembeforeyouusethe
machineeachtime.Ifthesafetyinterlocksystemdoes
notoperateasdescribedbelow,haveanAuthorized
ServiceDealerrepairthesafetyinterlocksystem
immediately.Whilesittingintheseat,performthe
followingchecks:
1.Settheparkingbrake,shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)
knobtotheEngageposition,andturntheignition
keytoStart:Theengineshouldnotcrank.
2.Shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)knobtotheDisengage
position,releasetheparkingbrake,andturnthe
ignitionkeytoStart:Theengineshouldnotcrank.
3.Settheparkingbrake,shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)
knobtoDisengage,andstarttheengine.Whilethe
engineisrunning,releasetheparkingbrakeandrise
slightlyfromtheseat:Theengineshouldstop.
4.Shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)knobintothe
Disengageposition,putthetractioncontrolpedal
inNeutral,andstarttheengine.Whiletheengine
isrunning,shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)knobinto
theEngagepositionandputthetractioncontrol
pedalinReverse:Theengineshouldstop.
5.Shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)knobintothe
Disengagepositionandputthetractioncontrol
pedalinNeutral.Starttheengine,shifttheblade
control(PTO)knobintotheEngageposition,
andturntheKeyChoicekeyandreleaseit:The
operating-in-reversewarninglightshouldilluminate.
6.Shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)knobtotheDisengage
position:Theoperating-in-reversewarninglight
shouldturnoff.
PushingtheMachineManually
Important:Alwayspushthemachinemanually.
Nevertowthemachinebecauseitmaydamage
thetransaxle.
