•Operatethemachinecuttingunitsonlyinwell-litareas.
•Watchforholesorotherhiddenhazards.
•Donotdriveclosetosandtraps,ditches,creeks,orotherhazards.
•Reducespeedwhenmakingsharpturns.Avoidsuddenstopsandstarts.
•Beforebackingup,looktothereartoensurenooneisbehindthemachine.
•Watchoutfortrafcwhennearorcrossingroads.Alwaysyieldthe
right-of-way.
•Keephands,feet,andclothingawayfrommovingpartsandthecuttingunit
dischargearea.
•Raisethecuttingunitscompletely,andensuretheyarelockedinposition
whendrivingfromoneworkareatoanother.
•Beforestartingtheengineonthetowvehicle:
–Applytheparkingbrake.
–Makesurethatthetractionleverortransmissionisinneutralandthe
PTOisdisengaged.
–RefertothetowvehicleOperator’sManualforsafestartingprocedures.
•Donotrunthetowvehicleengineinaconnedareawithoutanadequate
ventilation.Exhaustfumesarehazardousandcouldbedeadly.
•Ifanyabnormalvibrationisdetected,disengagethePTOandstopthetow
vehicleimmediately.Determinethesourceofthevibrationandcorrectany
problem(s)beforeresumingtheuseofthepull-behindrotarymower.
•Whileoperating,thecombinationofthetowvehicleandthemowerexceed
noiselevelsof85dB.Hearingprotectionisrecommendedforprolonged
exposure.
•Ifacuttingunitstrikesasolidobjectorvibratesabnormally,stopimmediately,
andturntheengineoff.Waitforallmotiontostopbeforeinspectingfor
damage.Adamagedcuttingunitmustberepairedorreplacedbefore
operationcanresume.
•Traverseslopescarefully.Donotstartorstopsuddenlywhentravelinguphill
ordownhill.
•DON’TRISKINJURY!Whenapersonorpetappearsunexpectedlyinornear
theareawhileoperatinganthemower,STOP.Carelessoperation,combined
withterrainangles,ricochetsorimproperlypositionedguardscanleadto
thrownobjectinjuries.Donotresumeoperationuntiltheareaiscleared.
•Beforeleavingtheoperator’spositionofthetowvehicle:
–DisengagePTOpowertothepull-behindrotary,andlowertheunitto
theground.
–Applytheparkingbrakeonthetowvehicle.Stoptheengineandremove
keyfromtheignitionswitch.
–Waitforallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthetowvehicle.
