AssemblingtheJointYoke
1.Applyacoatingofgreasetothebearingboresoftheyokeandbasemounts.
Also,applygreasetothebearingsandsealsofthecrossassembly.
2.Pressonebearingpartiallyintotheyoke.
IMPORTANT
Takecarewheninstallingthecrossintothebearingtoavoid
damagingthebearingseal.
3.Carefullyinsertthecrossintothebearingandyoke.
4.Holdthecrossinalignmentandpressthebearinguntilithitstheyoke.
5.Carefullyplacethesecondbearingintotheyokeboreandontothecross
shaft.Pressthebearingintotheyoke.
6.Installthesnapringstothebearingstosecurethebearingsinplace.
7.Installtheremainingbearingsoncross.
8.Pressthebasemountsontothebearingcapswiththeanglededgeofthe
mountsawayfromthejoint;refertoFigure14.Theoutsideofthecross
bearingcupsshouldbeushwiththebasemountsurfaces.
9.Ensurethattheassembledjointyokemoveswithoutbinding.Slightbinding
canusuallybeeliminatedbylightlyrappingtheyokelugswithasoftfaced
hammer.Ifbindingcontinues,disassemblejointyoketoidentifyandeliminate
sourceofbinding.
InstallingtheLiftArmJointYoke
1.Installthejointyoketotheliftarm:
A.Placea4.2mm(0.165in)spacer(9)andthen3.2mm(0.125in)thrust
washer(4)ontothejointyokeshaft.
B.Inserttheyokeshaftupthroughtheliftarmbushings.
C.Placea3.2mm(0.125in)thrustwasher(4)ontothejointyokeshaft
followedbya0.8mm(0.032in)thrustwasherfollowedbyahardened
washer(3).Useadditional0.8mm(0.032in)thrustwashersasneeded
toremoveasmuchclearanceaspossiblebetweenthethrustwasher
andthehardenedwasher.
D.Installtheslottedhexnut(2)tosecurethejointyoketotheliftarm.
Torquetightenthenutfrom204to244N·m(150to180ft−lb).Ensure
thatthejointyokerotatesinliftarmwithoutbindingandthatexcessive
clearancedoesnotexistintheyokeassembly.
2.Carefullylowertheliftarmtopositionbasemountstothecuttingunit
connection.
