DriveforNeutral
Note:Ifthemachinehasrecentlyhadthehydraulic
uidchangedorthetractionmotorsorhosesreplaced,
workoutanyairtrappedinthesystempriorto
performingthisprocedure.Todothis,operatethe
machineinforwardandreverseforafewminutesand
thenreplenishtheoilasrequired.
Note:Whenpositionedonalevelsurface,the
machinemustnotcreepwhenyoureleasethetraction
pedal.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,engagethe
parkingbrake,lowerthecuttingunittotheoor,
andshutofftheengine.
2.Jackuptherearofthemachineuntiltherear
tiresareofftheshopoor.Supportthemachine
withjackstandstopreventitfromfalling.
Note:On4-wheel-drivemodels,thefronttires
mustalsobeofftheshopoorandsupported
byjackstands.
WARNING
Theenginemustberunningsothatyou
canperformthisadjustment.Thiscould
causepersonalinjury.
Keepyourhands,feet,face,andother
bodypartsawayfromanyhotpartsof
theengineandanyrotatingparts.
3.Starttheengine,setthethrottletotheSLOW
position,andobservewhichdirectiontherear
tiresrotate.
Important:Makesurethatthetractionpedal
isintheNEUTRALposition.
Iftheleftreartireisrotating,loosenthejam
nutsontheleftsidetransmissioncontrolrod
(Figure48).
Note:Theforwardendofthecontrolrod
hasaleft-handthread.Therearendofthe
rod,whichisconnectedtothetransmission,
hasaright-handthread.

Iftheleftreartireisrotatinginreverse,
lengthentherodbyslowlyturningtherod
counterclockwise(asviewedfromthefront)
untiltheleftreartirestopsrotatingorhas
minimalrotationinreverse.
Iftheleftreartireisrotatingforward,shorten
therodbyslowlyturningtherodclockwise
(asviewedfromthefront)untiltheleftrear
tirestopsrotating.
4.MovethethrottletotheFASTposition.Make
surethatthewheelremainsstoppedorhas
minimalrotationinreverse.Adjustitasrequired.
5.Tightenthejamnuts.
6.Repeattheprocedurefortherightreartire,if
required,byusingtheright-sidetransmission
controlrod.
7.Shutofftheengine,removethejackstands,and
lowerthemachinetotheshopoor.
8.Testdrivethemachinetomakesurethatitdoes
notcreep.
AdjustingtheMaximum
GroundSpeed
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengage
thePTO,releasethetractionpedaltothe
NEUTRALposition,andengagetheparking
brake.
2.MovethethrottlelevertotheSLOWposition,
shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
