Understandingthe
OperatingCharacteristics
oftheMachine
Thismachinehasanautomotive-stylethrottlethat
iscontrolledbythetractionpedal.
Thismachinedoesnothaveaseparatethrottle
switchorthrottlelever.
Whenyouremoveyourfootfromthetraction
pedal,themachinedynamicallybrakestoastop.
Thepedalcontrolsareoptimizedtoprovidea
reactiveyetstableresponse,allowingyouto
maintainconsistentcontroloverroughterrain,
whilestillallowingforquick,smoothbraking.
Whiletransporting,thetractionpedalwilloperate
similartoacarandchangetheengineandtraction
speeddependentonthetractionpedalposition.
Whenmowing,theenginespeedwillautomatically
raisetohighidle.
Iftheengineisatlowidle,performingafunction
likeliftingthecuttingunitsorpressingthetraction
pedalraisestheenginespeedtoaminimum
workingspeed,providingenoughpowerto
efcientlyperformthefunction.
Limitthemachineidletimeasrecommendedfor
dieselparticulatelter(DPF)regeneration.Shutof
themachinetopreventextendedidlingtime.
ThemaximumspeedssetinthePINprotected
menusettingsaresetbythesupervisortolimitthe
machine’smaximumtractionspeed.
Theachievabletractionpedaluse,cruisecontrol,
andpedalstoptractionspeedsarealllimitedby
themaximumspeedssetinthePINprotected
menu.
OperatingtheMachine
Whenyoustarttheengineandthehydraulicuid
temperatureislow,theenginespeedautomatically
increasestooptimizeoperationandwarmsupthe
machine.Theenginespeedautomaticallyreturns
tolowidleafterthehydraulicuidtemperatureis
inanormaloperatingrange.
Undernormaloperatingconditions,thismachine
isintendedtooperateintheH/LAUTOposition
onthespeedrangeswitch(Figure27).This
positionallowsthemachinetoautomaticallyswitch
betweenlowandhighspeedranges,depending
onwhetherthemachineisbeingusedformowing
ortransporting.
WhenyouselecttheLOWpositiononthespeed
rangeswitch(Figure27),themachinewillalways
operateinlowspeedrange.Thissettingis
preferableforoperationinashoparea,loadingor
unloadingfromatrailer,climbingsteepinclines,
oranyotheroperationwherethehighertraction
speedsofthehighspeedrangeisnotdesired.
Ifanobstacleisintheway,liftthecuttingunitsto
mowaroundit.
Whentransportingthemachinebetweenwork
areas,engagetheAUTOHI/LOWrange,shutoff
thePTO,andraisethecuttingunitstothefully
upwardposition.Thisallowsthetractionpedalto
operatelikeacar.
Alwaysdriveslowlyinroughareas.
PracticeOperatingtheMachine
Togetfamiliarwiththefeaturesofthemachine,
practiceoperatingthemachine.
Liftthecuttingunits,disengagetheparkingbrake,
presstheforwardtractionpedal,andcarefully
drivetoanopenarea.
Practicedrivingthemachine,becauseithasa
hydrostatictransmissionanditsfeaturescandiffer
fromotherturf-maintenancemachines.
Practicemovingforwardandreverse,andstarting
andstoppingthemachine.Tostopthemachine,
removeyourfootfromthetractionpedalandletit
returntoNEUTRAL.
Note:Whengoingdownhillinthemachine,you
mayneedtousethereversepedaltostop.
Removeyourfootfromthetractionpedaland
pressdownonthebrakepedalstostopquickly.
Practicedrivingaroundobstacleswiththecutting
unitsupanddown.Becarefulwhendriving
betweennarrowobjectssothatyoudonotdamage
themachineorcuttingunits.
