  Several factors can cause the engine to lose power. The crankcase oil level might be incorrect, so fill or drain to the Full mark. The air cleaner element could be dirty, requiring cleaning or replacement. Also, dirt, water, or stale fuel in the fuel system can be a culprit; in this case, drain and flush the fuel system and add fresh fuel. Finally, the vent hole in the fuel tank vent fitting might be plugged, so replace the fuel cap.
