BladeSafety
•Awornordamagedbladeorbedknifecanbreak,
andapiececouldbethrowntowardyouor
bystanders,resultinginseriouspersonalinjuryor
death.
•Inspectthecuttingunitsperiodicallyforexcessive
wearordamage.
•Usecarewhencheckingthecuttingunits.Wrap
thebladesorweargloves,andusecautionwhen
servicingthereelsandbedknives.Onlyreplaceor
sharpenthereelsandbedknives;neverstraighten
orweldthem.
•Onmachineswithmultiplecuttingunits,takecare
whenrotatingareel;itcancausethereelsinthe
othercuttingunitstorotate.

ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Checkthereel-to-bedknifecontact,regardlessof
whetherthequalityofcuthadpreviouslybeen
acceptable.Theremustbelightcontactacrossthefull
lengthofthereelandthebedknife(refertoAdjusting
theReeltoBedknifeinthecuttingunitOperator's
Manual).

•Keepyourngers,hands,andclothing
awayfromthereelsorothermovingparts.
•Neverattempttoturnthereelsbyhandor
footwhiletheengineisrunning.
Note:Whenbacklapping,thefrontunitsalloperate
together,andtherearunitsoperatetogether.
1.Positionthemachineonalevelsurface,lower
thecuttingunits,shutofftheengine,engagethe
parkingbrake,andmovetheEnable/Disable
switchtoDISABLEposition.
2.Unlockandraisetheseattoexposethebacklap
levers(Figure75).
