CheckingtheAirCleaner
Thisengineisequippedwithareplaceable,highdensity
aircleanerelement.Checktheaircleanerdailyorbefore
startingtheengine.Checkforabuildupofdirtand
debrisaroundtheaircleanersystem.Keepthisarea
clean.Alsocheckforlooseordamagedcomponents.
Replaceallbentordamagedaircleanercomponents.
Note:Operatingtheenginewithlooseordamagedair
cleanercomponentscouldallowunlteredairintothe
enginecausingprematurewearandfailure.
Note:Servicetheaircleanermoreoftenunder
extremelydusty,dirtyconditions.
Loosentheknobsontheaircleanercoverandpullthe
coverofftoaccesstheaircleanerelement.

1.Loosentheknobsontheaircleanercoverand
pullthecoverofftoaccesstheaircleanerelement
(Figure34).
2.Pullupalongtheoutsideedgeuntiltheaircleaner
snapsoutFigure34).
3.Inspecttheaircleanerandbrushoffanydirtor
debris.Cleantheenginearoundtheaircleanerarea.
Donotwashtheaircleanerorusepressurized
air,asthiswilldamagetheelement.
Note:Theaircleanerelementissurroundedbya
thinfoamsleeve.Ifthissleeveistornordamaged,
replacetheentireaircleaner.
Important:
Do Not Oil thefoamsleeveorthe
aircleanerelement.Thiswilldamagetheair
cleaner.Ifthereisanyoilorheavydebrisonthe
aircleanerreplaceimmediately.
4.Installtheaircleanerbyaligningtheholeofthe
elementwiththeairventontheengine.
5.Pushtheaircleanerin,towardtheengineuntilthe
elementsnapsintoplace.
6.Installthecoverandtightentheknobs.
