1.Lowertheboomandsettheparkingbrake.
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforall
movingpartstostopbeforeleavingtheoperating
position.
3.Removedirtandgrimefromtheexternalpartsof
theentiremachine,especiallytheengine.Cleandirt
andchafffromtheoutsideoftheenginecylinder
headnsandblowerhousing.
Important:Youcanwashthemachinewith
milddetergentandwater.Donotpressure
washthemachine.Avoidexcessiveuseof
water,especiallynearthecontrolpanel,engine,
hydraulicpumps,andmotors.
4.Servicetheaircleaner;refertoServicingtheAir
Cleaner.
5.Greasethemachine;refertoGreasingthemachine.
6.Changethecrankcaseoil;refertoChangingthe
EngineOil.
7.Removethesparkplugandchecktheconditionofit;
refertoServicingtheSparkPlug.
8.Forstorageover30days,preparethemachineas
follows:
A.Addapetroleumbasedstabilizer/conditioner
tofuelinthetank.Followmixinginstructions
fromstabilizermanufacturer.(1oz.perUS
gallon).Donotuseanalcoholbasedstabilizer
(ethanolormethanol).
Note:Fuelstabilizer/conditionerismost
effectivewhenmixedwithfreshgasolineand
usedatalltimes.
B.Runtheenginetodistributeconditionedfuel
throughthefuelsystem(5minutes).
C.Stoptheengine,allowittocoolanddrainthe
fueltankusingapumptypesyphon.
D.Restarttheengineandrunituntilitstops.
E.Choketheengine.
F.Startandruntheengineuntilitwillnotstart
again.
G.Disposeoffuelproperly.Recycleasperlocal
codes.
Important:Donotstorestabilizer/conditioned
gasolineover90days.
9.Withthesparkplugremovedfromtheengine,pour
twotablespoonsofengineoilintothesparkplug
hole.
10.Placearagoverthesparkplugholetocatchanyoil
spray,thenusethestarterorrecoilhandletocrank
theengineanddistributetheoilinsidethecylinder.
11.Installthesparkplug,butdonotinstallthewireon
thesparkplug.
12.Chargethebattery(model22971and22974);refer
toServicingtheBattery.
13.Checkandadjustthetracktension;refertoAdjusting
theTrackTension.
14.Checkandadjustthediggingchaintension;refer
toCheckingandAdjustingtheDiggingChainand
Boom
15.Checkandtightenallbolts,nuts,andscrews.Repair
orreplaceanypartthatisdamaged.
16.Paintallscratchedorbaremetalsurfaces.Paintis
availablefromyourAuthorizedServiceDealer.
17.Storethemachineinaclean,drygarageorstorage
area.Removethekeyfromtheignitionswitchand
keepitinamemorableplace.
18.Coverthemachinetoprotectitandkeepitclean.
