Procedure 5 Battery Check
If the status indicator panel displays 100% charge for the battery and the time or percentage
displayed drops unexpectedly when you disconnect the AC adapter, the battery may not have
been used for a long time. If the remaining capacity display or available time to operate
decreases quickly after removing the AC adapter and the status indicator indicates 100%, the
following reasons may apply.
❑ Battery was not used for long period of time.
❑ Battery charging was started with the temperature difference between the
computer and the battery pack at more than 10°C. (A cold battery was
installed into an overheated PC.)
Then, perform the following checks:
Check 1 Fully discharge the battery by leaving the computer power on until it automatically
turns off.
Check 2 Connect the AC adapter and charge the battery. The battery charge may increase
quickly to 99%. Wait for the charge to reach 100%.
Check 3 Repeat checks 1 and 2 two or three times until the battery capacity recovers.
