Cautions on wiring of the serial bus
When wiring the serial bus cable, note the following.
z Perform wiring within the same housing or between neighboring housings with a total
extension of 30 meters or less.
z As a rule, use unicursal wiring starting from the controller.
z To bend the cable, observe the minimum allowable bend radius (see Table 3.1).
Cautions on extending the serial bus for system addition
When adding the loop system components, note the following.
z The total wiring length of the serial bus must be within 30 meters.
z When wiring outside the housing is necessary, observe the precautions on wiring outside
the housing in "Wiring inside the housing."
z When adding base units ULCU12 and UIOU1, the number of units connected must be 15
or less.
Wiring of a spare serial bus cable
Two serial bus cables, Bus A and Bus B, are used for redundant serial bus (standard). For
quick recovery in case of a cable break due to an accident, provide a spare cable for each of
them.
In this case, protect the crimp contacts at the both ends of the spare cable with oil paper to
prevent corrosion or poor contact.
Wiring inside the housing
Wire the serial bus cable separately from the power supply cable rather than binding with it.
For the separation distance of wiring, refer to Table 3.2 in "Wiring separation" on the next
page.
As a rule, perform wiring of the serial bus cable within the same housing or between
neighboring housings. When wiring outside the housing is necessary, provide piping work
with dedicated metal tubes to protect the cable and prevent external noises. The total cable
wiring length must be 30 meters or less.
