How to troubleshoot a Trane Voyager CV unit that won't operate?

  If your Trane Air Conditioner unit isn't operating with no heat, cool, or fan, first verify the line voltage at the service disconnect. If that's not the issue, check for 24 VAC at the RTRM J1-1 to the system ground. If you have VAV, inspect the Zone Sensor Module (ZSM) or try shorting the MODE input. If 24 VAC is present at the RTRM J1-1 to ground, check if the LED on the RTRM is on; if not, replace the RTRM. Also, examine the IDM and belts of the Supply Fan Proving (FFS) switch, replacing them if needed. Finally, ensure the Emergency Stop input is closed.

  If your Trane Air Conditioner unit won't heat or cool, but the fan switch works, the Zone Sensor Module (ZSM) might be defective. Alternatively, there might be a problem in the ZSM wiring. To diagnose this, disconnect the ZSM wiring at the RTRM and test the wires using the Zone Sensor Test Procedures to locate any wiring problems. It is also possible that the RTRM is defective. Disconnect the ZSM wiring at the RTRM and perform the Zone Sensor Module (ZSM) Test Procedures. If the ZSM is within range, replace the RTRM.

  If CPR1 on your Trane Air Conditioner isn't working, but the ODMs are, test the compressor both mechanically and electrically, replacing it if necessary. Check the wiring, terminals, and CC1 contactor for any failures, repairing or replacing them as needed. Also, check if LPC1 has tripped; if so, perform a leak check, repair any leaks, evacuate the system, and recharge it. Finally, check the LPC1 operation.

  If CPR1 is operating but the ODMs are not on your Trane Air Conditioner, check the ODMs and replace them if necessary. Also, inspect the ODM capacitors and replace them if needed. Examine the wiring, terminals, and CC1 or CC2 contactor for failures, repairing or replacing them as necessary. Check the ODF 20 or 34 relay for proper voltage and contact closure; these relays have a 24 VAC holding coil, so if voltage is present, replace the relay. Finally, locate the P3 connector on the RTRM and check for 24 VAC at terminal P3-6; if it's not present, replace the RTRM.

Why aren't CPR1 and ODM1 operating on my Trane Air Conditioner?

  If neither CPR1 nor ODM1 will operate on your Trane Air Conditioner, it could be due to no power to the CC1 coil, possibly indicating a Cool Failure. Check the wiring, terminals, and applicable controls such as CCB1, HPC1, TDL1, WTL1, and LPC1. Also, the CC1 coil might be defective; inspect it and replace it if it's open or shorted. If 24 VAC is present at the CC1 coil, verify contact closure. If 24 VAC is not present at the CC1 coil, reset the Cool Failure by cycling the main power disconnect switch. Verify the system MODE is set for cooling operation. If no controls have opened and CC1 will not close, replace the RTRM. Finally, check if LPC1 has tripped and if so, perform a leak check, repair, evacuate, and recharge as necessary. Check the LPC1 operation.

  If your Trane Air Conditioner heats and cools but doesn't maintain the set point, the Zone Sensor Module (ZSM) might be defective. Also, the thermometer on the ZSM could be out of calibration; check and calibrate the thermometer.
