Chain/Belt
Check your chain or belt for tightness and wear.
• There should be between 6-12mm / 0.25-0.50in total vertical movement in the middle
of the chain or belt.
• If your chain/belt has more vertical movement, see your bike shop for adjustment.

Replace the chain if it shows signs of wear
or damage: kinks, rust, broken pins, plates,
or rollers.
Clean and lubricate the chain (see Five
easy xes every rider should know on page
4-9).
Replace the belt if it shows signs of wear:
worn teeth, worn roller sides.
