Overview

This document describes the Trotec TTK 65 E dehumidifier, an appliance designed for drying and dehumidifying room air. It operates on the principle of condensation, making it suitable for various indoor environments such as living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, basements, laundries, holiday homes, camper vans, and boats. It can also be used for maintaining dryness in storage spaces, archives, laboratories, garages, washrooms, and changing rooms. Additionally, the device can function as a clothes dryer for wet laundry.

Function Description

The TTK 65 E dehumidifier works by drawing damp room air through an air inlet and an air filter. The air then passes over a cold evaporator, where it is cooled below its dew point. As a result, water vapor in the air condenses on the evaporator fins, forming condensation or rime. The dehumidified, cooled air is then slightly warmed by a condenser and blown out of the device. This drier, conditioned air mixes with the room air, continuously reducing the overall humidity.

The condensed water either drips continuously or during a defrost phase into an integrated drain nozzle, collecting in a condensation tank located below. The tank is equipped with a float mechanism to measure the filling level. When the condensation tank reaches its maximum capacity or is not correctly installed, a dedicated indicator light on the control panel illuminates, and the device automatically switches off. Operation resumes once the emptied condensation tank is reinserted.

For continuous operation or unattended dehumidification, a condensation drain hose can be attached to the device, allowing the collected water to be drained directly. The device can reduce relative room humidity to approximately 30%. Due to the heat generated during operation, the room temperature may rise slightly.

The device features an automatic defrost function. At low ambient temperatures, ice may form on the evaporator. During defrosting, dehumidification is temporarily interrupted, but the fan continues to run. It is important not to switch off the device or remove the mains plug during automatic defrost.

A memory function ensures that the selected target value for relative room humidity is saved after a brief power failure. However, any activated timer settings will not be retained.

Usage Features

The TTK 65 E is designed for ease of use and portability. It is equipped with a carry handle and wheels for convenient transport.

Control Panel: The device is operated via a control panel with several buttons and LED indicators:

  • ON/OFF button (17): Switches the device on or off.
  • +/- button (18): Used to set the desired relative room humidity in 5% increments, ranging from 35% to 80%.
  • FAN SPEED button (19): Adjusts the fan speed to LOW, MID, or HIGH, indicated by corresponding LEDs (10).
  • TIMER button (20): Activates the automatic switch-on or switch-off timer function for 2 or 4 hours, indicated by TIMER LEDs (9).
  • POWER LED (12): Illuminates when the device is running.
  • BUCKET FULL LED (13): Flashes when the condensation tank is full or not correctly inserted.
  • FILTER RESET LED (14): Illuminates when the air filter needs cleaning.
  • CONTINUOUS LED (15): Illuminates during continuous operation mode.

Operating Modes:

  • Automatic Dehumidification: After switching on, the device operates automatically. The fan runs continuously until the set nominal humidity value is reached or the device is switched off.
  • Setting Desired Humidity: Users can preselect the desired relative room humidity using the +/- button.
  • Setting Fan Speed: The fan speed can be adjusted to LOW, MID, or HIGH.
  • Continuous Operation: In this mode, the device dehumidifies constantly, regardless of the relative room humidity. The relative humidity and fan speed cannot be set in this mode. The device operates at its highest dehumidification performance until the condensation tank is full or, if a drain hose is used, until the device is switched off.
  • Timer Function: The timer allows for automatic switch-on or switch-off after a preset number of hours (2 or 4 hours).

Condensate Drainage:

  • Condensation Tank: The collected condensate is stored in a removable tank. This tank should be emptied when the BUCKET FULL LED flashes.
  • Continuous Drain Hose: For continuous operation, a hose (12 mm diameter) can be connected to the device's condensation drain hose connection, allowing water to drain directly into a suitable container or drain.

Drying Laundry: When used as a clothes dryer, specific relative humidity values are recommended:

  • Cupboard dry: 46% relative humidity
  • Iron dry: 58% relative humidity
  • Slightly dried: 65% relative humidity A measuring device can be used to determine the humidity level if necessary.
