    • N
      nancy93Aug 18, 2025
Your Troy-Bilt lawn mower engine may fail to start due to several reasons: the blade control handle may be disengaged (engage the blade control handle); the spark plug wire may be disconnected (connect the wire to the spark plug); the fuel tank may be empty or contain stale fuel (fill the tank with clean, fresh gasoline); the engine may not be primed (refer to the engine manual); the spark plug may be faulty (clean, adjust the gap, or replace it); the fuel line may be blocked (clean the fuel line); or the engine may be flooding (wait a few minutes to restart, but do not prime).

Why Troy-Bilt Lawn Mower engine runs erratic?
    • S
      scottrobertAug 21, 2025
An erratic running engine in your Troy-Bilt lawn mower can be caused by a loose spark plug wire (connect and tighten the spark plug wire); a blocked fuel line or stale fuel (clean the fuel line and fill the tank with clean, fresh gasoline); a plugged gas cap vent (clear the vent); or water or dirt in the fuel system (drain the fuel tank and carburetor, then refill with fresh fuel). Dirty air cleaner and carburetor out of adjustment require referring to the engine manual.

If your Troy-Bilt lawn mower isn't mulching grass, it could be due to wet grass (do not mow when grass is wet; wait until later to cut), excessively high grass (mow once at a high cutting height, then mow again at desired height or make a narrower cutting path), or a dull blade (sharpen or replace the blade).
