If your Tuthill Water Pump won’t prime, several issues could be the cause. First, check the suction line for any leaks or restrictions. Also, inspect the bypass valve to ensure it moves freely and is free of debris. Examine the vanes and rotor slots for any nicks, burrs, or wear. Inspect the rotor and vanes for excessive wear or damage, and replace them if necessary. If you are using an automatic nozzle, remove it to prime the pump. Finally, check the filter and bypass valve for debris and remove the nozzle to test the flow with the pump on.
