ELECTRON-BEAM POWER SUPPLY HPS-1600F
5. Operation
37
If the EARTH GUN GND cable is too long, cut it to the right length and connect. Never coil it.
It may become a noise source, having an effect on other equipment.
If noise affects other equipment, it is effective to put the OUTPUT cable and the EARTH GUN
GND cable together in a metal-shielded conduit etc.
5) OUTPUT cable check
Check that the supplied OUTPUT cable (Table 3.1) is securely connected to the high-voltage
introduction terminal on the side of loading (the EB gun).
In addition, check that the shield line is connected to the earth terminal. (See Fig. 2.1.)
The EB power supply generates a voltage that is enough to pose a danger to human life. Take
more than enough care in such a way as to attach a metallic cover to the high-voltage
introduction terminal so that the operator will never contact the high-voltage. For details, see
the operations manual of the EB gun.
The shielding and earthing of a high-voltage cable is very important process as a measure
against noise occurrence and safety. Any operation without this process may cause damage
to the power supply and very dangerous. So make sure that it is checked.
Do wiring following Fig. 2.1. At this time, never coil or place it together with signal-based
cables. It may become a noise source, having an effect on other equipment. In addition, the
wiring of the EARTH GUN GND cable along the OUTPUT cable reduces the noise effect.
If noise affects other equipment, it is effective to put the OUTPUT cable and the EARTH GUN
GND cable together in a metal-shielded conduit etc.
6) Alarm fuse check
For the alarm fuses, check:
Whether a white mark appears on the indicator of the fuse body.
(If a white mark appears, the fuse is blown. fuses may be blown by strong vibration during
the transportation.)
Whether any fuse is about to be disconnected.
Whether the current rating of each fuse is the same as the fuse capacity shown in Table
4.1.
7) Various connections check
Check whether the cables supplied with each accessory is securely connected.
For the XY OUT cable, refer to the EB gun instruction manual and check that the wiring of the X-
axis magnet coil and the Y-axis magnet coil is correct.
