VERTICAL SHAFT ASSEMBLY: (Figure 8)
1. Remove the beater head assembly per the instructions on page 3.5.
2. Remove the power take-off assembly per the instructions on page 3.7.
3. Remove the key (Figure 8 [7]), retaining ring [1], bevel gear [2] and key [5].
4. Press the vertical shaft assembly down out of the transmission housing.
NOTE: If the bevel gear requires replacement, the bevel pinion gear (Figure 6 [11]) should also
be replaced.
5. Insert a drift through the top of the transmission housing and into the vertical shaft bearing
bore and drive the seal [8] from the transmission housing.
6. Remove the retaining ring [4] from the vertical shaft bearing bore in the transmission
housing.
7. Press the bearing [3] from the transmission housing.
