TRANSMISSION REASSEMBLY:
1. Clean all components except the bearings with safety approved cleaning solvent. Inspect all
components for defects and replace those found to be defective.
NOTE: All gears should be replaced as sets.
2. If any shafts have become slightly scored during the disassembly process, polish the shafts
with fine machinist’s crocus cloth. Use care to avoid excessive removal of shaft surface or
proper fit of components will be lost.
3. Reassembly should be carried out in the reverse of the disassembly procedures as follows:
Successful reassembly is dependent on the cleanliness of all surfaces, particularly the bores
of housings and gears as well as the outer surface of shafts. It is good practice to recheck the
cleanliness of each component as it is picked up for reassembly.
4. Reassemble and reinstall the vertical shaft assembly. NOTE: when installing the retaining
ring on the bevel gear end of the vertical shaft, make sure the opening in the retaining ring is
opposite the keyway in the shaft.
5. Place a bead of Permatax or other suitable sealant on the face of the PTO housing and rein-
stall the power take-off assembly in the transmission housing except the spur gear (Figure 6
[13]).
6. Place a bead of Permatex or other suitable sealant around the flange of the input housing and
Install the input assembly in the transmission housing. Install and tighten the Hex head cap
screws evenly.
7. Reassemble the beater head assembly and replace or redistribute the grease in the beater head
housing. Install the beater head assembly on the vertical shaft and mesh the beater head
pinion with the internal gear and push the beater head housing up against the transmission
housing. Lightly lubricate the beater head screw and torque the screw to 45 foot-pounds.
NOTE: The screw is left hand thread.
8. The transmission should be progressively checked for smooth operation while on the
workbench by turning each assembly as it is installed.
9. Lubrication of the transmission should be done following its installation on the mixer. The
transmission should be filled with SAE 140 or EP360 gear oil as follows.
