Overview

The Void Acoustics Cyclone 55 is a compact, high-performance passive two-way loudspeaker designed for fixed installations, offering impressive sound and versatile mounting options. It is suitable for a variety of indoor and outdoor environments, including beach bars, resorts, cruise ships, hotels, and public spaces, thanks to its IP-55 rating.

Function Description:

The Cyclone 55 functions as a full-range loudspeaker, delivering both low-frequency (LF) and high-frequency (HF) audio. It features two 5-inch direct radiating reflex-loaded LF transducers and two 1-inch soft dome HF tweeters, arranged in a co-axial configuration within an open V-baffle enclosure. This design aims to provide controlled directivity and low distortion. The loudspeaker is passive, meaning it requires an external amplifier with DSP management for optimal performance. It includes a single removable, lockable wiring connector with four screw-down terminals, allowing for secure wiring and pre-wiring before installation, with one pair for input and another for loop-out to additional loudspeakers.

Important Technical Specifications:

Usage Features:

The Cyclone 55 is designed for ease of installation and versatile placement.

  • Mounting Options: It comes with a wall bracket (Type 51 plate) and supports various mounting configurations including wall, ceiling, stud, and pole mounts, using specific T51 bracket kits (White - IT3802/IT2992/IT3354/IT3439/IT3728, Black - IT3354/IT3031/IT3438/IT3727).
  • Adjustability:
    • Wall Mounting: Offers maximum horizontal rotation of +54° and vertical rotation of -70° to +60° (or +25° horizontal and +28°/-0° vertical for a closer-to-wall fit).
    • Ceiling Mounting: Allows for a full 360° horizontal rotation and ±12° vertical rotation.
    • Pole Mounting: Provides 360° horizontal rotation and ±12° vertical rotation.
  • Wiring: The Phoenix connector system allows for secure and reliable cable connections, with clear polarity markings for input and link-out. Recommended cable specifications (Low Smoke Zero Halogen, Oxygen Free Copper) are provided for fixed installations to ensure safety and minimal signal loss over distance.
  • Aesthetics: The enclosure is available in any RAL colour, allowing for seamless integration into diverse architectural designs.

Maintenance Features:

  • Serviceability: Void Cyclone Series loudspeakers should only be serviced by a fully-trained technician. There are no user-serviceable parts inside, and any servicing should be referred to Void-approved service agents.
  • Return Authorisation: For repairs, users must obtain a Return Authorisation Number (R.A.N.) from their Void dealer, who will manage the repair process. Proof of purchase (sales receipt) is required for warranty claims.
  • Shipping and Packing: When returning a unit for service, it is recommended to provide a detailed description of the fault and any associated equipment. Accessories (manuals, cables) are generally not required unless specifically requested by the dealer. The product should be packed in its original factory packaging if possible, with the fault description included inside the package, not sent separately. Safe transportation to the authorised service centre is crucial.
  • Durability: The fibreglass reinforced plastic construction and IP-55 rating contribute to the loudspeaker's longevity and resistance to environmental factors, reducing the need for frequent maintenance in typical operating conditions.
