Laying Up and Launching
IMPORTANT:
Make sure the boat does not submerge significantly
below the static water line when laying up or launching.
There is a risk of water entering the engine through the
exhaust system.
Trailering Your Boat
Check local legislation for boat transportation by trailer
- there are differences in various national trailer
regulations.
Boats with stern drives
Trim the sterndrive up to its "lift position" (maximum lift)
before the boat is pulled onto the trailer for
transportation. It is possible to trim the sterndrive
without starting the engine. When the sterndrive has
reached the highest lift position an automatic catch
switch off the current to the trim pump. The catch is
released automatically when the sterndrive is trimmed
down.
Always secure the sterndrive in the up position so that
it cannot fall onto the trailer during transportation.
WARNING!
Never run the engine with the drive in the “lift” range.
Boats with reverse gear
To prevent water entering the engine while the boat is
being transported by trailer, drain the water from the
exhaust system.
Cold Weather Precautions
If the engine bay cannot be kept frost free, the sea
water system must be drained and the freshwater
system coolant must have sufficient freeze protection
to prevent freeze bursting; refer to
Maintenance, page 129 and Maintenance, page 131
respectively for more detailed information.
Check the charge status of the battery. A poorly-
charged battery can freeze and burst.
