Type plates
The vehicle identification number (VIN) is
marked on an identification plate on the
bus.
Identification plate
The manufacturer's plate is divided in
two parts, the inner frame required by
law and three boxes containing chassis
number, drive and wheelbase. The latter
is only used in lorries.
The manufacturer's plate is located near
the driver seat and contains the following
information:
1 If special national certification is
required, the general representative/
importer punches here adequate
approval number.
2 The VIN is the same number that can
be found on the frame member.
3 Max. gross weight, technical (in kg).
The technical weight determines the
weight to which the vehicle was
constructed.
4 Technically permissible front axle
load (in kg).
5 Technically permissible rear axle
load (in kg).
6 (Articulated bus) technically
permissible third axle load (in kg).
7 National rules on the permissible
gross weight or axle load. If these
provisions provide less than
technically permissible values for the
vehicle, the general agent/importer
must supplement the information.
8 Code of the country in which the
vehicle is registered.
Vehicle identification (VIN)
The VIN is stamped on the chassis at the
right-hand front end of the vehicle. That
is, in the wheel arch in front of or behind
the front axle.
