Themainpurposeofcoolantistotransportheatfromthehotpartsoftheenginetothe
radiatorandtoprotectthecoolingsystemfromcorrosion.
Inadditiontothis,thecoolantmust:
•Protectagainstpittingandcavitationerosiondamageofthewaterpumpandcylinder
liners.
•Protectagainstfreezingandboiling.
•Preventformationofscale,sludgedepositsandclogging.
•Beharmlesstopolymermaterialsandsealsinthecoolingsystem.
•Maintainitsliquidpropertiesincoldclimates.
Manyenginefailurescanbetracedbacktoaprobleminthecoolingsystem.Ifthecoolant
levelisallowedtogobelowthebottomofthetank,thereistheriskoftheengineshutting
down.Seetheoperatorsmanualformoreinformationonthewarningfunctions.

Coolantmixtureconsistingofanantifreezesolutioninwatershouldbeusedyear-roundto
providefreezeandboil-overprotectionaswellasprovidingastableenvironmentforseals
andhoses.
Note:DONOTuseantifreezeformulatedforautomobilegasolineengines.Thesehavea
veryhighsilicatecontentthatwillclogtheradiatorandleaveunwanteddepositsinthe
engine.
