CAUTION
TheDieselParticulateFilters(DPF),
SelectiveCatalyticReductionunit(SCR)
andtheircomponents,cannotbemoved
oralteredfromtheOEMinstallationin
anyfashion.Anyalterationsmaycause
componentdamageandisprohibitedby
thelaw.
Thesecomponentsarepartoftheoverallvehicleemissionscontrolsystem.Innormal
operation,thesecomponentscanexperiencesurfacetemperaturesashighas350°C(662°
F).Itisimportanttoverifythetemperatureatwhichthematerialorsubstancein,or
associatedwith,thebodycanignite.Ifitispossibleforthematerialorsubstancetofallor
leakfromthebody,takestepstopreventthemfromcontactingorcollectingontheDPF
orSCR.Failuretodosomayresultinre.
Itisimportanttonotethatadditionalshieldingmay,dependinguponconditionsandthe
materialorsubstance,trapammablesubstancesbetweentheadditionalshieldandthe
DPF/SCR.Ifthisconditioncandevelop,advisetheuserofthevehicletoperiodicallycheck
toensuretherearenotrappedsubstances.
Note:TheDPF/SCRandassociatedcomponentsarepartofaU.S.EPAandCalifornia
AirResourcesBoard(CARB)certiedengineemissionssystem.Thesecomponents
mustnotbemoved,alteredormodiedinanyway.Tamperingwiththesesystems
rendertheemissionswarrantyvoidandmayresultinpossibletamperingchargesby
theEPAorCARB.
