The Vortex Anarch™ is an image-stabilized laser rangefinder designed for golf, providing precise distance measurements and enhanced stability.
The Anarch™ rangefinder uses a laser to measure distances to target objects. Its primary function is to provide accurate yardage to the pin, even in challenging conditions like wind or long distances, thanks to its image stabilization technology. This stabilization keeps the reticle locked on the target, ensuring reliable readings. The device offers a Slope Mode, which calculates a slope-adjusted range in addition to the line of sight range, and a PinSpotter™ Mode, which provides visual and vibratory feedback when a flag is successfully ranged, prioritizing the closest object in a group.
Battery Installation & Power Up: To install the battery, unscrew the Battery Cap counterclockwise, insert a CR123 battery with the positive side (+) facing outwards, and then reinstall the cap, ensuring it is tightly closed. To power up the rangefinder from its ready (power-off) condition, press and release the “Measure” button. The ranging screen will then display. The Anarch™ features an auto-shutoff after 10 seconds of inactivity on the ranging screen, and after 30 seconds in the menu.
Low Battery Icon: A low battery icon appears when the battery life reaches 25% and remains visible until the battery is replaced or fully depleted.
Focus Adjustment: The diopter can be adjusted to ensure the image and reticle are sharp and in focus. Users are advised to note their preferred diopter setting for future reference.
Menu Selections: The Anarch™ is factory set to Slope Mode on, PinSpotter™ Mode on, Circle reticle, and yards. To change settings, power on the unit by pressing the “Measure” button, then press and hold the “Menu” button for about two seconds to access the menu. Navigate options by clicking the “Menu” button and adjust settings by clicking the “Measure” button. To save settings and exit, press and hold the “Menu” button for at least two seconds.
Slope Mode: When Slope Mode is active, the rangefinder displays both the line of sight range (top) and the slope-adjusted range (bottom). An upward slope icon and a “+” sign indicate uphill ranges, while a downward slope icon and a “-” sign indicate downhill ranges. External green LED indicators illuminate when Slope Mode is in use, signaling that the device is not tournament legal. These indicators are off when Slope Mode is disabled.
PinSpotter™ Mode: This mode provides visual and vibratory feedback when a flag is ranged. It prioritizes the closest object, typically the flag, when multiple objects are detected. When a flag is ranged, the device vibrates three times and a flag symbol flashes three times before remaining illuminated. This symbol stays on until a new range is taken or the unit powers off.
Reticle Selection: Users can choose from three reticle options: Circle, Circle Crosshair, or Crosshair. These options are accessible through the Reticle screen in the Menu Settings, toggled using the “Measure” button and saved with the “Menu” button.
Range Unit Selection: The rangefinder can display distances in either yards or meters. This setting is changed in the Range screen of the Menu Settings, toggled with the “Measure” button and saved with the “Menu” button.
Brightness Selection: The Anarch™ offers an Automatic Brightness setting that adjusts the display based on ambient light. Alternatively, users can manually select from three brightness levels by pressing and releasing the “Menu” button.
Ranging: To range, position the reticle on the target and press and release the “Measure” button. Image stabilization ensures a clear sight picture. If ranging fails due to reflectivity or proximity, a specific display will appear. To range a new target, re-aim and press “Measure” again.
Scan Feature: Activate the Scan Feature by pressing and holding the “Measure” button. This allows continuous measurement as you pan across targets. “Scan” will illuminate in the upper left-hand corner of the display during this process. Broken circle segments around the reticle will flash while scanning.
Cleaning: The rangefinder requires minimal maintenance, primarily cleaning the exterior lenses. Use a soft cloth for cleaning. For lenses, use products specifically designed for coated optical lenses. Always blow away dust or grit before wiping. Stubborn water spots can be removed with breath, a small amount of water, or pure alcohol.
Lubrication: All components of the Anarch™ are permanently lubricated, so no additional lubrication is needed. Users should not attempt to disassemble any components other than the Battery Cap, as this may void the warranty.
Storage: Avoid storing the rangefinder in direct sunlight or very hot locations for extended periods.
The Vortex VIP® Warranty is a lifelong, fully transferable promise to repair or replace the rangefinder if it becomes damaged, with no questions asked. It is unlimited and unconditional, and no registration, box, or receipt is required. The warranty does not cover loss, theft, deliberate damage, or cosmetic damage that does not affect product performance.
