Profile details
A number of details are required to fully define a profile
that instructs your phone how to connect to the Internet.
These profile details may be supplied by your mobile
phone service provider or by a separate Internet service
provider. The details required are as follows:
• Profile name - the name by which the profile is known
and displayed on screen.
• Home page address – the Internet address of the
standard Web page that you will usually see when you
first make a connection
(e.g. http://www.homepage.com).
• Number – the phone number that is initially dialled
when you begin an Internet connection.
• IP Address – the Internet address (IP stands for
Internet Protocol) of the gateway system that will link
you through to the Internet (e.g. 123.456.789.012).
• Username and Password – a standard name and
password to allow you access through the Internet
service provider’s system.
• Perm. Connection – determines how the Internet
service provider’s system responds to requests from
your phone. The Yes option provides a more reliable
link and will be appropriate in most cases. Some
organisations may express this option in other ways:
• Select Yes if your provider states Port 9201 or
Connection Oriented.
• Select No if your provider states Port 9200 or
Connectionless.
• If no preference is expressed, select Yes.
• Data Call Type – This selects the type of call made
between your mobile phone network and the chosen
Internet Service Provider – the options are ISDN
(digital) or Analog.
