Data and fax calls
Your phone includes a built-in modem and can be linked
via infrared* or cable with a computer or Personal Digital
Assistant (PDA) to allow the following functions:
• mobile connections with other computers, e.g. Internet
access
• mobile calls to fax machines,
• creation and editing of text messages (SMS),
• managing and backing-up your Phonebook
Note: The above features may require additional
software available commercially for your PC or PDA.
Linking your computer
Your phone can be linked to your computer or PDA in two
ways:
• using the IrDA infrared interface* (your computer must
support the same), or
• with an optional link cable available from your
supplier.
To link your computer via infrared:*
1 From standby,

to enter the menu,

to select IR Activation.
• the display shows Activate IR for incoming data? –
proceed no further at this stage, your phone will
remain in this condition for two minutes,
3 Place your phone and the computer roughly 20cm
apart with their infrared windows aligned,
4 Activate the infrared system and communications
application on your PC,
• maximum IrDA infrared link baud rate –
115,200bps,
• maximum modem speed connection speed –
9,600bps,
• if necessary, use modem initialisation string ATZ
