Verify the telephone line cord is firmly connected to both the telephone base and the wall jack. 4. Unplug the telephone base's power, wait 15 seconds, and then plug it back in. Allow one minute for synchronization. 5. Remove and re-insert the batteries. If it still fails, consider purchasing new batteries. 6. Disconnect the base from the wall jack and plug in a working telephone. If that phone doesn't work, the problem lies with your wiring or telephone service. Contact your telephone service provider.
