Overview

The Warmup 6iE is a smart thermostat designed for controlling floor heating systems, offering advanced features for energy efficiency and user convenience. It provides a sophisticated way to manage your home's heating, adapting to your lifestyle and external conditions.

Function Description

The primary function of the 6iE is to regulate the temperature of electric underfloor heating systems. It operates by monitoring floor or air temperature (depending on the chosen control mode) and activating the heating elements to reach and maintain a user-defined target temperature. The device is designed to be installed by a qualified electrician, requiring a permanent 110V - 240V AC, 60Hz supply and conforming to local electrical codes, including a Class A GFCI with a 5mA trip level.

The 6iE can operate in several modes:

  • Program Mode: Allows users to set comfort temperatures at specific times throughout the day. This mode is highly customizable, enabling individual day programming, uniform settings for all days, or distinct schedules for weekdays and weekends.
  • Manual Mode: Sets a fixed target temperature that the thermostat will maintain until a different operating mode or temperature is selected.
  • Vacation Mode: Overrides regular scheduling with a lower, fixed temperature for a set period, designed to save energy while the user is away and avoid reprogramming upon return.
  • Heating Off: Completely switches off the heating until manually reactivated.
  • Frost Protection: A safety feature that ensures the floor/air temperature does not drop below 44.0°F, preventing potential damage in unheated spaces.

The thermostat integrates with the "MyHeating" App by Warmup, which facilitates initial setup, remote control, and access to advanced features like SmartGeo and Energy Monitor. The app guides users through setting up their house location and rooms, allowing for precise control over heating zones.

Usage Features

The 6iE offers a user-friendly interface with a clear display that shows the current floor/air temperature, target temperature, and weather forecast. Key usage features include:

  • Quick Temperature Change: Users can easily adjust the target temperature using a slider or +/- icons on the display. In Program Mode, this sets a temporary override until the next heating period, while in Manual Mode, it sets a fixed target temperature.
  • Mode Selection: The device allows for quick switching between Program, Manual, Vacation, Heating Off, and Frost Protection modes directly from the menu.
  • Program Scheduling: Setting a program involves selecting specific days or blocks of days and defining start times, end times, and target temperatures for different periods. The "Select additional days" feature allows for easy application of schedules across multiple days.
  • Setback Temperature: This feature allows for a lower, energy-efficient temperature to be maintained outside of active heating periods, contributing to energy savings.
  • Energy Monitor: The 6iE learns usage patterns and house reactions to heating and weather, displaying energy consumption over various timeframes (24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, since reset). This feature helps users understand and optimize their energy usage. Users can input the system's power (wattage) and efficiency for accurate monitoring.
  • SmartGeo™: A unique technology developed by Warmup, integrated with the MyHeating App. SmartGeo uses an advanced algorithm to learn user routines and location through smartphone communication. It automatically lowers temperatures when users are away and raises them to the ideal comfort temperature in time for their arrival, operating in Program or Manual run modes.
  • Display Customization: Users can choose the background image of the 6iE (Light, Dark, Random) and customize the standby display to show temperature, time, or a minimalist view. Brightness can also be adjusted for Active, Standby, and Night modes.
  • Open Window Detection: This feature automatically switches off heating to save energy when the thermostat detects an open window or door, provided the outside air temperature is significantly below the indoor temperature.
  • Adaptive Learning (Early Start): Utilizes historic heating/cooling rates, external temperatures, and forecast external temperatures to calculate the optimal heating start time, ensuring the comfort temperature is reached at the beginning of the comfort period. This feature works exclusively in Program Mode.
  • Screen Lock: A security feature that locks the 6iE screen, requiring a 4-digit code to access menus and make changes, preventing unauthorized adjustments.
