USING
YOUR
UNIT
Your
Trimmer
is
equipped
with
the
semi-automatic
Tap-N-Go®
Cutting
Head
that
cuts
with
the
tip
of
a
monofiiament
nyion
iine.
The
nyion
cutting
iine
can
easiiy
remove
grass
and
weeds
from
around
waiis,
fences,
trees,
and
fiower
beds.
The
cutting
iine
aiso
can
cut
the
tender
bark
of
trees
or
shrubs
and
scar
fences.
For
this
reason,
it
is
very
important
to
iearn
the
proper
techniques
of
cutting
around
and
near
ob
jects.
The
iife
of
the
cutting
head
and
iine
is
affected
by
the
foliowing
conditions:
The
nylon
cutting
line
will
wear
faster:
when
you
are
cutting
against
rocks,
bricks,
concrete,
metal
fences,
etc.,
than
against
trees
or
wooden
fences.
when
allowed
to
contact
solid
objects
at
a
higher
speed
than
necessary
to
cut
the
desired
material.
The
cutting
head
will
wear
prematurely:
if
allowed
to
continuously
contact
the
ground
during
normal
cutting.
if
the
line
iimiter
is
not
kept
sharp.
WARNING!
Never
use
wire
in
place
of
the
monofiiament
cutting
iine.
The
tip
can
break
off
during
cutting
and
could
become
a
dangerous
missile.
A.
OPERATING
INSTRUCTIONS
1.
Read
your
Operator's
Manual.
Make
certain
you
completely
understand
and
can
follow
all
safety
rules,
precautions,
and
operating
Instructions
before
operating
the
unit.
2.
Always
wear
eye
protection.
Never
lean
over
cutting
head.
Rocks
or
debris
could
be
thrown
Into
eyes
and
face.
3.
Dress
safeiy
in
iong
pants
and
wear
boots
or
safety
shoes.
Do
not
wear
loose
clothing,
jewelry,
short
pants
or
sandals;
or
go
barefoot.
4.
Check
the
unit
before
operation.
Look
for
worn,
loose,
or
damaged
parts.
Do
not
use
until
the
unit
Is
In
proper
working
order.
5.
inspect
the
area
to
be
cut.
Remove
all
debris
and
objects
that
could
be
thrown,
become
entangled
In
the
cutting
head
or
cause
damage
during
cutting.
6.
Keep
children,
bystanders,
and
pets
safeiy
away.
Before
starting
the
engine
and
during
opera
tion,
make
certain
children,
bystanders,
and
pets
are
at
a
safe
distance
away
from
the
work
area—a
minimum
of
30'
(feet).
7.
Avoid
bodily
contact
with
the
muffler.
Use
caution
when
changing
operating
posi
tions
to
avoid
contact
with
the
muffler.
The
muffler
area
can
be
hot
and
cause
serious
burns.
B.
ADJUSTING
THE
CUTTING
LINE
The
cutting
line
on
the
Tap-N-Go®
head
Is
ad
justed
seml-automatlcally.
After
new
line
is
ad
vanced,
the
line
llmlter
on
the
shield
cuts
the
nylon
line
to
an
Ideal
length.
1.
To
advance
iine:
a.
Operate
the
engine
at
least
one-half
throt
tle.
b.
Hold
cutting
head
parallel
to
and
above
the
grassy
area
of
the
ground.
c.
Tap
the
cutting
head
lightly
on
the
ground
one
time.

Approximately
2
Inches
of
line
will
be
advanced
after
each
tap.
2.
Always
keep
the
Shield
in
place
when
the
unit
is
being
operated.
3.
Keep
the
iine
iimiter
sharp
for
fast,
easy
cut
off.
The
iine
iimiter
can
be
sharpened
with
an
electric
grinder.
NOTE:
Always
tap
the
cutting
head
on
a
grassy
area
of
the
ground.
Tapping
on
hard
surfaces
such
as
concrete
or
asphalt
can
cause
excessive
wear
to
the
cutting
head.

CAUTION:!
Do
not
allow
