|GAUTION:|lnstall Assist Handle parts by hand
only. The use of tools could overtighten parts
and cause damage.
a. Carefully push the Assist Handle over the
Drive Shaft Housing. Figure 4.
b. Install the Assist Handle Bolt, Washer, and
Wing Nut or Knob as shown in Figure 4.
0. Tighten the Wing Nut or Knob by hand only.
NOTE: The Assist Handle can be rotated from
left to right allowing the cutting head to be
tilted. Tilting the angle of the cutting head is
useful when trimming or cutting a large, sloped
area, such as a ditch bank.

a. Remove the plastic cap from the end of the
Drive Shaft Housing.
b. Loosen the Pinch Clamp Bolt on the Engine
Shroud.
CAUTION: Do not
use tools to tighten
Assist Handle parts.

c. Pul l about 6 inches of the Flexible Drive
Shaft out from the Drive Shaft Housing.
d. Fit one end of the Flexible Drive Shaft into
the square opening inside the Engine
Shroud. Figure 5.
NOTE: Turn the Arbor Shaft or Engine
Shroud as necessary to line up parts.
e. Push the Drive Shaft Housing as far as it
wiii go into the Engine Shroud.
f. Tighten the boit with a 7/16 inch wrench.
NOTE: If the Pinch Giamp Boit is removed
from the unit, be sure to reinstall the bolt
into the unthreaded side of the pinch
clamp. The bolt must pass through the un
threaded side of the pinch ciamp first and
then into the threaded side to properly
secure the Drive Shaft Housing.
CAUTION: DO NOT FORCE DRIVE SHAFT
HOUSING INTO THE ENGINE SHROUD.
Damage to the housing or the engine shroud
could occur.

A. FUELING YOUR UNIT
1. FUEL MIXTURE
e Your unit Is powered by a two-cycle engine
which requires a fuel mixture of regular
gasoline, leaded or unleaded, and a high
quality engine oil specially made for
2-cycle, air-cooled engines. The internal
design of the 2-cycie engine requires lubri
cation of moving parts. Lubrication is pro
vided when you use the recommended mix
ture of gasoiine and oil.
• Genuine POULAN I WEED EATER 2-cycle
Engine Oil is strongly recommended for the
protection of your unit. Extensive engineer
ing tests have proven that Poulan/Weed
Eater oil resists breakdown at high operat
ing temperatures common of 2-cycle
engines, resuiting in dependabie perfor-
6 mance and longer engine life.
• Gasoline must be clean and not over two
months old. After a short period of time,
gasoiine begins to chemical iy break down
and wil l form compounds that can cause
hard starting and damage in 2-cycle
engines.
The correct measure of gasoline to oil Is
very Important. Too much oil In the mixture
wiii foul the spark plug. Too little oil will
cause the engine to overheat and freeze up.
Always mix the fuel thoroughly In a con
tainer since gasoline and oil do not readily
combine. Do not try to mix fuel directly in
the fuel tank.
