TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION
Engine will not
start.
1. Fuel selector switch is in wrong posi-
tion.
1. Set fuel selector switch to match fuel being used.
2. Battery switch is set to OFF (0). 2. Set battery switch to ON (1).
3. Engine has not been primed (LPG
only).
3. Prime the engine.
4. Battery is dead.
4. Electric and remote start will not work if battery is out of power.
Start generator using the recoil start to charge the battery.
5. Battery is too cold.
5. Electric start may be difficult if the battery is too cold. Store the
generator or battery in a warmer location. Start generator using
recoil start to warm up area around generator.
6. Oil is low. 6. Add oil.
7. Engine is out of fuel. 7. Add fuel.
8. Engine is filled with contaminated or
old fuel.
8. Drain fuel in the tank and carburetor. Replace with fresh fuel. Clean
carburetor if necessary.
9. Spark plug boot is disconnected. 9. Replace spark plug boot on spark plug.
10. Spark plug is dirty or broken. 10. Clean or replace spark plug. Re-gap if needed.
11. Propane tank is turned OFF. 11. Dang it, Bobby, I told you to turn that thing on!
12. Carburetor is air locked.
12. Set fuel selector switch to "PROPANE". Remove fuel solenoid
valve and bolt from bottom of the carburetor. Take off the carburetor
bowl to allow it to reset. Replace carburetor bowl and reinstall the
bolt, then reinstall the solenoid valve.
13. Onboard propane regulator is stuck.
13. Turn OFF propane tank. Disconnect hose from propane fitting.
Contact WEN customer service for assistance.
14. CO levels are too high.
14. Move the generator to an open area with fresh air. Wait a few
minutes for the CO buildup to dissipate.
15. CO sensor is disconnected. 15. Make sure CO sensor is connected.
16. Ghost in the generator. 16, Persuade ghost to leave. Consult Bill Murray if needed.
Engine will not
start (remote
start).
1. Remote is out of range. 1. Move closer to generator and point the remote at the generator.
2. Remote battery is dead. 2. Replace the remote battery (CR2032).
3. Generator and remote are not paired.
3. Pair remote and generator. See "PAIRING THE REMOTE AND
GENERATOR" section.
4. Other cause (see "engine will not start"
above).
4. Resolve other cause.
Engine runs, but
there is no electri-
cal output.
1. Circuit breaker has been tripped due
to overload, or the inverter has cut off
power to protect itself.
1. Turn off and unplug electrical device(s). Wait 5 minutes, then
press the circuit breaker button (or reset button) to reset. Check
the total wattage of the devices and reduce the load if it exceeds the
capacity of the generator. Then plug the loads back in one by one.
2. Bad connecting cords/wires.
2. Check the power cords and extension cords. Do not use if any
cord is damaged. Replace damaged cords immediately.
3. Bad electrical device connected to the
generator.
3. Try connecting a different device.
4. Internal generator problem. 4. Consult Table 2 for troubleshooting the overload light.
