Why won't my Wen Portable Generator start?

  If your WEN Portable Generator's engine won't start, there are several potential reasons. First, ensure the engine switch is in the ON (I) position for recoil start or the START (II) position for electric start. Check the fuel level and add fuel if necessary. If using propane, make sure the propane tank is turned on and that the engine has been primed. If the engine is filled with old or contaminated fuel, drain the tank and carburetor, then replace it with fresh fuel. Inspect the spark plug for dirt or damage, and clean or replace it as needed. If the carburetor is air locked, turn the 2-in-1 switch to OFF, remove the bolt from the bottom of the carburetor, take off the carburetor bowl to allow it to reset, replace carburetor bowl and reinstall the bolt.

  If your WEN Portable Generator engine runs but provides no electrical output, first, turn off and unplug all connected electrical devices. Check if the reset button has been activated due to a wattage overload and press it to reset. Also, check if the breaker has tripped; if so, wait 3 minutes and press the activated breaker to reset it. Verify your power cords and extension cords for any damage and replace them immediately if needed. Finally, test with a different electrical device to rule out a faulty device connected to the generator.

  If your WEN Portable Generator engine RPM is fluctuating, ensure there is enough fuel and the 2-in-1 switch is set to RUN if you are using gasoline. If using propane, try switching to a new tank or using gasoline instead. Clean or replace the air filter element and clean the spark arrestor. If there is gunk in the carburetor, use carburetor cleaner spray on the carburetor bowl and jets.
