The location of the shaft bole can
now be determined. Its distance
from tbe transom will be controlled
by the dimensions of the rudder be-
ing used, clearance between tbe
rudder and propeller, prope ller dia-
meter and propeller clearance to
the bottom of the boat. Locate the
after end of the propeller hub
wbicb will be at that point- on the
prop sbaft where the rigbt angle
distance from tbe prop sbaft center
to tbe bottom of the keel is equal
to balf tbe prop diameter plus two
inches. Mark a spot four incbes plus
balf tbe widtb of the rudder to-
ward tbe stern along the sbaft line
from tbe after end of tbe prop hub
line. Draw a line from tbis point at
rigbt angles to tbe keel. This line
now represents the inside of tbe
transom. Meas"uing from tbis point
to tbe spot where tbe shaft line
passes tbrough tbe keel will give
tbe location of tbe shaft hole.
A wedge can now be cut to fit be-
tween tbe shaft log and keel as
previously described. Fig. 13 gives
