Why is the TDS high in my Whirlpool Water Filtration System?
    • C
      Christina LambertSep 2, 2025
If you're experiencing high total dissolved solids (TDS) in the product water from your Whirlpool Water Filtration System, it could be due to a couple of reasons. The water supply to the system may not be within the proper specifications, so you may need to increase water pressure or precondition the water. Send treated and untreated water samples to a water analysis lab for testing to determine system performance. If the TDS is not within the system’s performance guidelines, replace the pre- filter, post filter and RO membrane cartridges. Alternatively, the drain flow control insert might be plugged, in which case you should replace it.

What to do if my Whirlpool Water Filtration System has a bad taste or odor?
    • E
      erika64Aug 31, 2025
If your Whirlpool Water Filtration System water has an unusual taste or odor, several factors could be responsible. The postfilter might be expended, in which case you should replace the postfilter cartridge. If the taste and odor persist, replace the prefilter cartridge and Reverse Osmosis membrane cartridge. Another potential cause is contamination in the product water storage tank. In this case, use sanitizing procedures and replace the prefilter and postfilter cartridges. Finally, the entire system could be contaminated, so sanitize the entire system.

How to stop water leaks at push connect fittings in Whirlpool Water Filtration Systems?
    • T
      Tricia RodriguezAug 29, 2025
If your Whirlpool Water Filtration System is leaking at the push connect fittings, it could be due to several reasons. The tubing might not be cut square, so ensure it is. The tubing might not be pushed in all the way; make sure it's fully inserted. Also, the tubing could be nicked or have a non-smooth outer surface finish. In either case, remove the tube, cut off the damaged portion to shorten the tube, and reinsert it into the connection. When removing the drain line, leave the elbow fitting in place.

Why is water leaking from the faucet airgap hole in my Whirlpool Water Filtration Systems?
    • N
      Norma DunnAug 27, 2025
If water is leaking from the faucet airgap hole of your Whirlpool Water Filtration System, the drain side of the faucet airgap (the 3/8" black tubing) may be plugged, restricted, or incorrectly connected to the drain point. Inspect the tubing and eliminate any restrictions or plugs. Ensure the drain line is properly routed according to the installation instructions.

Why does my Whirlpool Water Filtration Systems water taste like chlorine?
    • V
      vboydAug 26, 2025
If your Whirlpool Water Filtration System's water tastes or smells like chlorine, it could be due to a high chlorine level in your water supply, exceeding the system's limits and potentially damaging the Reverse Osmosis membrane. If the water supply contains more than 2.0 ppm of chlorine, additional filtering is needed. Contact your local water supplier for assistance. Also, the prefilter might not be effectively reducing chlorine. In this case, replace the prefilter, postfilter, and Reverse Osmosis membrane cartridges.

How to fix water leaks at push connect fittings in Whirlpool WHAROS5 Water Filtration Systems?
    • T
      Thomas Kelly DDSAug 25, 2025
If your Whirlpool Water Filtration System is leaking at the push connect fittings, several issues could be the cause. First, the tubing might not be cut square, so cut the tubing square. Second, the tubing may not be pushed in all the way; ensure you push it in completely. Third, the tubing might be nicked; remove the tube, cut off the nicked portion, and reinsert it. Finally, the outer tubing surface finish might not be smooth; remove the tube, cut off the problematic area, and reinsert it.

How to fix slow water production in Whirlpool WHAROS5?
    • K
      Katherine GreenAug 22, 2025
If your Whirlpool Water Filtration System is producing water too slowly, the issue might stem from a couple of causes. The water supply to the system may not be within the recommended specifications; you may need to increase water pressure or precondition the water. Alternatively, the prefilter or Reverse Osmosis membrane cartridges could be clogged with sediment. Try replacing the prefilter cartridge. If the water production rate doesn't improve, replace the postfilter cartridge and Reverse Osmosis membrane cartridge.
