8-2 VESDA Student Workbook
1) Pre-Commissioning (before site)
• Gather site information
• Obtain copy of:
– ASPIRE IDP
– Site plans
– Commissioning Report
• Start to fill in:
– Commissioning forms
– Other required regulatory forms
• Gather needed tools
– Programmer (laptop with VSC and USB cable)
– Material for acceptable smoke test
– Optional: digital manometer (if sample hole pressure is required to be measured)
▪ Wide Bore Networks: Max range 3kpa
▪ Narrow Bore Networks: 0.20kpa at the end of the recommended length of microbore tube
2) Pre-Commissioning (at site)
• Check cables
– Properly terminated maintaining correct polarity
▪ Reversed polarity may cause damage to the device
– VESDAnet wiring (closed or open-ended loop)
• Record the serial number from each VESDA device
