CRUISING IN SHALLOW
WATER
The engine can be tilted up partially to
allow operation in shallow water.
w
8 Place the gear shift in the Neutral posi-
tion before using the shallow water
lever.
8
Run the boat at the lowest possible
speed when using the shallow water
lever. The tilt-lock mechanism does not
work when the shallow water lever is
being used. Hitting an underwater obsta-
cle could cause the engine to lift out of
the water, resulting in loss of control.
8 Use extra care when operating in
reverse. Too much reverse thrust can
cause the engine to lift out of the water,
increasing the chance of accident and
personal injury.
8 Return the engine to its normal position
as soon as the boat is back in deeper
water.
