3. Stop the engine and leave it for 5-10 min-
utes.
4. Remove the top cowling and oil filler cap.
5. Remove the bolts and screw to remove
the apron from the starboard side.
X transom models
6. Prepare a suitable container that holds a
larger amount than the engine oil capac-
ity. Remove the drain screw and gasket
while holding the container under the
drain hole. Let the oil drain completely.
Wipe up any spilled oil immediately.
L transom models
X transom models
If the oil does not drain easily, change the tilt
angle or turn the outboard motor to port and
starboard to drain the oil.
7. Put a new gasket on the drain screw. Ap-
ply a light coat of oil to the gasket and in-
stall the drain screw.
If a torque wrench is not available when you
are installing the drain screw, finger tighten
the screw just until the gasket comes into
contact with the surface of the drain hole.

Drain screw tightening torque:
27 N·m (2.7 kgf·m, 20 lb·ft)
