NOTE:
The neutral throttle lever can only be used
when the remote control lever is in neutral.
5. Press in and hold the main switch to op-
erate the remote choke system. (The re-
mote choke system operates only when
the main switch is pressed in fully.)
NOTE:
It is not necessary to use the choke when
starting a warm engine.
6. Turn the main switch to “” (start) to
start the engine.
7. Immediately after the engine starts, re-
lease the main switch and allow it to re-
turn to “” (on). The remote choke
system stops operating when the main
switch is released.
CAUTION:
ECM00191
Never turn the main switch to “”
(start) while the engine is running.
Do not keep the starter motor turning for
more than 5 seconds. If the starter motor
is turned continuously for more than 5
seconds, the battery will be quickly dis-
charged, thus making it impossible to
start the engine. The starter can also be
damaged. If the engine will not start after
5 seconds of cranking, return the main
switch to “” (on), wait 10 seconds,
then crank the engine again.
8. Return the neutral throttle lever to the
original position.

TE:
When the engine is cold, for example, when
the ambient temperature is low in winter, it
needs to be warmed up. For further informa-

1. After starting the engine, allow it to idle for
3 minutes to warm up. Failure to do so will
shorten engine life.
2. Be sure the low oil pressure-warning indi-
cator goes off after starting the engine.
3. Check for a steady flow of water from the
cooling water pilot hole.
CAUTION:
ECM00211
If the low oil pressure-warning indicator
does not go off after the engine starts,
stop the engine. Otherwise serious en-
gine damage could occur. Check the oil
level and add oil if necessary. Consult
