Periodic maintenance
4. Wash the foam element in white kerosene and dry
it.
5. Check the foam element and replace it if neces-
sary.
6. Oil the foam element and squeeze out excess oil.
The foam element should be wet but not dripping.
7. Clean the air filter by blowing it from the inside with
compressed air.
8. Check the air filter and replace it if necessary.
9. Install the foam element onto the air filter.
TIP
Be sure the foam element sealing surface matches the
air filter so there is no air leak.
10. Install the air filter assembly and then tighten the
wing nut.
11. Install the air filter case cover and then tighten the
air filter case cover nut.
Never use white kerosene while smoking or in the
vicinity of an open flame.
Recommended oil:
Foam-air-filter oil or engine oil (See page 23)
Do not wring out the foam element when squeezing
it. This could cause it to tear.
The engine should never run without the air filter
assembly; excessive piston and cylinder wear may
result.
