Periodic maintenance
Spark arrester
1. Remove the screw.
2. Use a flathead screw driver to pry out and remove
the spark arrester from the muffler.
3. Remove the carbon deposits on the spark arrester
using a wire brush.
4. Check the spark arrester.
Replace it if damaged.
5. Install the spark arrester.
Align the spark arrester lump with the hole in the muf-
fler pipe.
6. Install the screw, and then tighten it.
The engine and muffler will be very hot after the
engine has been run.
Avoid touching the engine and muffler while they
are still hot with any part of your body or clothing
during inspection or repair.

When cleaning, use the wire brush lightly to avoid
damaging or scratching of the spark arrester.
