  If there is no sound from the surround back speakers on your Yamaha Receiver, select surround back speakers in PR/SB SELECT. If “SURR L/R SP” in SET MENU is set to NONE, the surround back speaker setting is automatically set to NONE, select the appropriate setting for the surround speakers. Also, check if “SURR B L/R SP” in SET MENU is set to NONE and select LRGx1 or SMLx1.

Check if “SURR L/R SP” in SET MENU is set to NONE, if so, select the appropriate setting for the surround left and right speakers. If a monaural source is being played with STRAIGHT, press STRAIGHT (EFFECT) to turn on the sound fields.

  If there is no sound from the subwoofer of your Yamaha Receiver, and a Dolby Digital or DTS signal is being played, check if “LFE/BASS OUT” in SET MENU is set to FRNT, if so, select SWFR or BOTH. If a 2-channel source is being played and “LFE/BASS OUT” is set to SWFR or FRNT, select BOTH.

  If the sound suddenly goes off on your Yamaha Receiver, check that the impedance selector setting is correct, as the protection circuitry may have been activated due to a short circuit. If the sleep timer has turned the unit off, turn the power back on and play the source again. Also, verify that the sound is not muted by pressing the MUTE button.

Replace all batteries, if they are weak. Also, ensure the manufacturer code is correctly set using the 'LIST OF MANUFACTURER CODES'. If it doesn't help, try another code for the same manufacturer using the 'LIST OF MANUFACTURER CODES'.

  If there is no sound from your Yamaha Receiver, verify that all input and output cables are correctly connected; a loose or defective cable can cause this issue. Also, ensure that the optimizer microphone is disconnected. Check that the input mode is set to AUTO, and an appropriate input source is selected using the INPUT, MULTI CH INPUT, or input selector buttons. Confirm that all speaker connections are secure and the correct front speakers (A and/or B) are selected. Finally, make sure the volume isn't muted and is turned up. If the input mode is set to ANALOG while playing a DTS signal, switch to AUTO or DTS. If the unit receives signals it cannot reproduce, use a compatible source.
