Controls and Instruments:

Catalytic Converter:

- WARNING: The exhaust system becomes hot. Do not park near flammable materials or in areas where pedestrians or children might touch it. Do not allow the engine to idle for more than a few minutes, as prolonged idling can cause a build-up of heat.
- NOTICE: Use only unleaded gasoline to avoid damage to the catalytic converter.
Kickstarter:
Used to start the engine by pushing the lever down smoothly and forcefully.
Seat and Storage:
The seat can be opened by turning the key counterclockwise to "OPEN" in the main switch.
- Storage compartment: Located under the seat, with a load limit of 5 kg (11.0 lb). The maximum load for the vehicle is 163 kg (359 lb).
- NOTICE: Do not store heat-susceptible, consumable, or flammable items due to heat accumulation. Wrap wet articles in plastic bags to prevent humidity. Do not store valuable or breakable items.
- Luggage hook: Load limit of 3 kg (6.6 lb).
Operation and Riding Points:
- Starting a cold engine: Turn the key to "O", wait for the oil level warning light, then turn to "O". Close the throttle completely and start the engine by pushing the kickstarter lever while applying the front or rear brake.
- NOTICE: Never accelerate hard when the engine is cold to maximize engine life.
- Engine break-in: Critical for the first 1000 km (600 mi).
- 0-150 km (0–90 mi): Avoid prolonged operation above 1/3 throttle. Vary speed.
- 150-500 km (90–300 mi): Avoid prolonged operation above 1/2 throttle.
- 500-1000 km (300–600 mi): Avoid cruising speeds in excess of 3/4 throttle.
- After 1000 km (600 mi): Change the final transmission oil.

- Final transmission oil: Check for leakage before each ride. Change at specified intervals. Quantity: 0.11 L (0.12 US qt, 0.10 Imp.qt). Recommended oil: SAE 10W-30 type SE motor oil. Tightening torque for drain bolt: 18 Nm (1.8 m-kgf, 13 ft·lbf).
- Carburetor: Requires specialized adjustment by a Yamaha dealer.
- Throttle grip free play: Measure 4.0–6.0 mm (0.16–0.24 in) at the inner edge of the grip. Adjust if necessary.
- Tires: Tubeless tires. Check pressure on cold tires.
- 0-90 kg (0–198 lb) load: Front 175 kPa (1.75 kgf/cm², 25 psi), Rear 200 kPa (2.00 kgf/cm², 29 psi).
- 90-163 kg (198–359 lb) load: Front 175 kPa (1.75 kgf/cm², 25 psi), Rear 225 kPa (2.25 kgf/cm², 33 psi).

- Minimum tread depth (front and rear): 1.6 mm (0.06 in).

- Brakes:

- Cables and brake levers: Lubricate with lithium-soap-based grease.
