This document is a user manual for a Zanussi dishwasher, model ZDLN1511, designed to provide comprehensive instructions for its installation, safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
The dishwasher is intended for household use and similar applications such as staff kitchen areas in shops, offices, and other working environments, as well as by clients in hotels, motels, bed & breakfast, and other residential type environments. It is designed to wash crockery, cutlery, pots, and pans with varying degrees of soil, from lightly dried-on to heavy and fresh. The appliance features an upper and lower spray arm for effective cleaning, a salt container, rinse aid dispenser, detergent dispenser, and baskets for organizing items.
For safe usage, the manual emphasizes that children aged 8 years and above, and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, can use the appliance if supervised or instructed on safe use and understanding of hazards. Children under 3 years of age should be kept away unless continuously supervised. Detergents should be kept away from children, and children and pets should be kept away when the door is open. Children should not perform cleaning or user maintenance without supervision.
The appliance is equipped with a control panel featuring an On/Off button/Reset button, programme indicators, a programme button, and a Delay Start button. Indicators for drying phase, salt refill, and rinse aid refill are also present to inform the user about the appliance's status and needs.
Usage Features:
The dishwasher offers several programmes, including an ECO programme, which is the longest but most efficient in terms of energy and water consumption for normal soil. Other programmes include 160 min, 90 min, and 30 min cycles, as well as a prewash programme for rinsing off food remains without detergent.
Before starting a programme, users are instructed to open the water tap, activate the appliance, ensure it is in programme selection mode, and fill the salt and rinse aid dispensers if their indicators are on. Baskets should be loaded correctly, detergent added, and the appropriate programme selected. The appliance also features a Delay Start function, allowing users to postpone the start of a programme.
The AirDry function is automatically activated with most programmes, improving drying results with less energy consumption by automatically opening the door during the drying phase. Users are advised not to close the door within 2 minutes after automatic opening to avoid damaging the appliance. The AirDry function can be deactivated if children have access to the appliance, as opening the door may pose a danger.
The appliance has an Auto Off function to decrease energy consumption by deactivating automatically when not operating, either after a programme is complete or after 5 minutes if a programme was not started.
Maintenance Features:
Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal performance. The manual provides detailed instructions for cleaning the filters and the lower spray arm. The filter system consists of three parts that need to be disassembled, washed, and reassembled correctly. The lower spray arm should also be removed and cleaned to prevent clogged holes, which can lead to unsatisfactory washing results.
For internal cleaning, the appliance, including the rubber gasket of the door, should be cleaned with a soft damp cloth. A cleaning product specifically designed for dishwashers should be used at least once a month to maintain performance. Running long-duration programmes at least twice a month is recommended to prevent grease and limescale buildup. External cleaning involves using a moist soft cloth and neutral detergents, avoiding abrasive products or solvents.
The water softener system is a key maintenance feature, designed to remove minerals from the water supply and prevent negative effects on washing results and the appliance. The water softener level should be adjusted according to the local water hardness. The manual provides a table to guide users in setting the correct water softener level based on German, French, mmol/l, and Clarke degrees of hardness. Users are advised to use rough salt specifically designed for dishwashers to recharge the resin in the water softener.
The rinse aid dispenser also requires refilling when the rinse aid indicator is on. Rinse aid helps dry dishes without streaks and stains. The notification for refilling rinse aid can be deactivated if drying results are satisfactory with multi-tablets, but using rinse aid is always recommended for best drying performance.
Troubleshooting:
The manual includes a comprehensive troubleshooting section to help users identify and resolve common problems. This section lists various issues, such as the appliance not activating, programmes not starting, water not filling or draining, anti-flood device activation, water level detection sensor malfunction, wash or drain pump malfunction, temperature sensor issues, and technical malfunctions. For each problem, possible causes and solutions are provided.
For problems indicated by flashing indicators and acoustic signals, the manual explains the meaning of these alarm codes. For instance, the indicator flashing once with an acoustic signal means the appliance does not fill with water, while two flashes indicate the appliance does not drain. If problems persist or if alarm codes not described in the table appear, users are advised to contact an Authorised Service Centre. The manual also warns against improper repairs by unqualified personnel due to safety risks.
Overall, the manual emphasizes the importance of proper installation, regular maintenance, and correct usage to ensure the longevity and optimal performance of the Zanussi dishwasher, while also promoting energy and water efficiency.
