Restrictions and Cautions
Restriction 1
When 802.1x or centralized MAC authentication is enabled on device, if the packets' source MAC
address is not leant on port after authentication process, these packets will be trapped to CPU, if lots
of this kind of packets rush to CPU, the user could enable attack-protection on access port to avoid
potential under this situation.
Restriction 2
Problems in forwarding and MIB statistics
1. The packets which source MAC addresses are multicast or zero can be forward according to the
destination MAC address and the zero MAC address can be learned in ARL, but the zero MAC
address is filtered in displaying.
2. The packet flows can’t be balanced in more than one port which work in half duplex mode and flow-
control are enabled. At the same time, here are a lot of abort packets in port MIB statistics. When the
speed of send packets is less than 100M, the flow-control of half duplex is OK.
3. The packet which length is larger than 1518 bytes will be counted in the giants.
4. The etherStatsUndersizePkts MIB statistics are not very precise.
Restriction 3
When MAC address number reaches to the max-count on the port which mac-address max-mac-
count is enabled, the port will drop the BPDU packets directly (include STP, dot1X, NDP packet).
