4.1.4 Manually releasing the brakes

Internal brake
release unit,

brakes
The procedure below details how to release the holding brakes when the robot is equipped
with an internal brake release unit.
When relasing the holding brakes, the manipulator axes may move very quickly and some-
times in unexpected ways! Make sure no personnel is near the manipulator arm!

release the manipulators holding brakes.

1. The internal brake release unit is equipped with
six buttons for controlling the axes brakes. The
buttons are numbered according to the num-
bers of the axes.
The buttons are located according
to one of the figures
-Illustration, IRB 6600/6650 on
page 44,
- Illustration, IRB 7600 base on
page 45 or
- Illustration, IRB 7600 frame on
page 45.
2. Release the holding brake on a particular
manipulator axis by pressing the correspond-
ing button on the internal brake release panel.
The brake will function again as soon as the
button is released.
