Do you have a question about the AcuRite 02035 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The AcuRite® Weather Station, model #02035, is a sophisticated weather forecaster designed to provide detailed, accurate weather information. It features a wireless outdoor sensor that collects external weather data and transmits it via radio frequency to a display console. This system is engineered for ease of installation and use, offering a comprehensive overview of current and forecasted weather conditions.

Function Description:

The core of this weather station is its NEW Precision 5-Day Weather Forecasting technology. This innovative feature allows users to select one of seven geographic regions, enabling a highly localized and accurate forecast directly from their backyard. The forecast display provides predictions for cloud cover, high and low temperatures, and the chance of precipitation for the next five days. This is achieved by analyzing local weather patterns and changes in great detail.

The sleek display console houses a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) that processes and shows all weather data received from the wireless sensor. It integrates a pressure sensor for barometric pressure, a temperature sensor for indoor temperature, and a humidity sensor for indoor humidity. The display console is powered by three "AA" alkaline batteries (not included).

The outdoor sensor is completely wireless and includes a temperature sensor for outdoor temperature and a humidity sensor for relative humidity. It is powered by two "AA" alkaline or lithium batteries (not included). The outdoor sensor is water-resistant and designed for general outdoor use, though placement in an area protected from direct weather elements is recommended to extend its lifespan and ensure accurate readings.

The Intelli-Time® clock is a self-setting feature that comes pre-programmed with the correct time and date. Once batteries are installed, the clock automatically sets itself, requiring only the selection of a time zone and Daylight Saving Time preferences. It also automatically adjusts for Daylight Saving Time changes.

The device also records minimum and maximum values for indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity, which are reset daily at midnight. Users can view these records and manually reset them. A momentary blue backlight on the display unit provides illumination for night-time viewing, lasting approximately 10 seconds per press.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Batteries:
    • Display Console: 3 x "AA" (not included)
    • Outdoor Sensor: 2 x "AA" (not included), Lithium batteries recommended if temperatures are below -4°F (-20°C).
  • Measurement Ranges:
    • Outdoor Temperature: -40°F to 158°F (-40°C to 70°C)
    • Outdoor Humidity: 1% to 99%
    • Indoor Temperature: 32°F to 122°F (0°C to 50°C)
    • Indoor Humidity: 1% to 99%
  • Wireless Range: Up to 330 ft / 100 m MAX (depending on home construction materials).
  • Patents: 5,978,738; 6,076,044; 6,597,990; US 7,637,141 B2.
  • FCC Compliance: The device complies with part 15 of the FCC rules, ensuring it does not cause harmful interference and accepts any interference received.

Usage Features:

  • Display Features: The LCD shows the day, date, Intelli-Time® clock, geographic region selection, current outdoor temperature, wireless sensor reception indicator, current outdoor humidity, current indoor conditions, current barometric pressure with trend arrow, and a pressure learning mode indicator. It also displays forecasted high and low temperatures for today and the next four days, along with weather icons for each day.
  • A/B/C Wireless Selection: A small switch in the battery compartments of both the display unit and wireless sensor allows selection of one of three wireless modes (A, B, or C). Both switches must be set to matching positions for successful wireless communication, preventing interference in close proximity to other weather stations.
  • Placement: The wireless sensor must be placed outdoors, less than 330 feet (100 meters) from the display console. Both units should be at least 3 feet (.91 m) away from electronic devices and large metallic items or thick walls to avoid interference. The display console should be placed in a dry, dirt-free area, out of direct sunlight, and away from heat sources or vents for accurate indoor temperature readings.
  • 5-Day Forecast Initial Learning Mode: For the first five days after powering on or resetting, the Precision 5-Day Forecast feature will be in a "learning and analyzing" mode. During this period, the forecast accuracy may be lower as the system observes changes to learn local weather patterns.
  • Manual Setup: Users can enter manual set mode to adjust time zone, Daylight Saving Time preferences, clock hour and minute, calendar month, date, and year, temperature units (°F or °C), pressure units (inHg or hPa), and reference language (English, Spanish, or French).
  • Forecast Calibration: If the forecast seems inaccurate, users can calibrate it. This involves adjusting the outdoor temperature, outdoor humidity, indoor temperature, indoor humidity, and the forecast itself (making it less or more "wet" to account for precipitation frequency). Calibration changes are lost if the display unit is reset or batteries are removed.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Replacement: Instructions are provided for installing and replacing batteries in both the display console and the wireless sensor.
  • Troubleshooting: A dedicated section addresses common issues such as bad wireless sensor reception, a non-working display console screen, and inaccurate 5-day forecasts, offering solutions like relocating units, checking batteries, and resetting the device.
  • Product Registration: Users are encouraged to register their product at www.AcuRite.com to receive product updates and information.
  • Customer Support: Contact information (phone and email) is provided for in-warranty repair and technical assistance, along with a link to the online support forum, product manuals, and FAQs.
  • Battery Safety: Warnings are included regarding button-cell batteries (if swallowed, seek immediate medical attention) and general battery safety guidelines, including proper disposal of old or defective batteries in an environmentally safe way.
