26 American Dryer Corp. WFR113539-13
“CAUTION: Label all wires prior to disconnection
when servicing controls. Wiring errors can cause
improper operation.”
«ATTENTION: Lor des opérations d’entretien des
commandes étiqueter tous fils avant de les
déconnecter. Toute erreur de câblage peut étre une
source de danger et de panne.»
4. Break union connection (nut) between the external shutoff
and the gas valve.
5. Loosen and remove screws from the brackets that are
holding the gas valve/manifold assembly to the mounting
plate. Remove the gas valve/manifold assembly from
the dryer.
6. Unscrew main burner orifice from the manifold and replace
with the propane orifice provided.
IMPORTANT: Use extreme care when removing and
replacing the orifice. The orifice is made of brass, which is
easily damaged.
7. To convert the gas valve for use with propane gas, refer
to the instructions included in kit envelope (#92-0737 or
#92-0659) supplied.
8. Reverse procedure for reinstalling the gas valve/manifold
assembly to the dryer.
9A. NON-CE DRYERS ONLY
Affix propane conversion label (Part No. 112011) to the dryer’s
rating plate as per the instructions (490143) included with the
label.
Complete propane kit conversion label (Part No. 114083) and
affix this label as close as possible to the dryer’s existing rating
plate.
Affix propane conversion rating plate (Part No. 114090) as
close as possible to the dryer’s existing rating plate.
9B. CE DRYERS ONLY
Affix new rating plate that came with the conversion kit.
10. Open all shutoff valves, reconnect electrical power to the
dryer, and test for leaks.
11. Open all shutoff valves (closed in Step #2), reconnect
electrical power to the dryer, and test for leaks.
IMPORTANT: Never test for leaks with an open flame!!!
Use a soapy water solution or product intended for that
purpose.
12. Verify conversion (check list)
“ITEM” “YES”
a. Burner orifices changed: ______
b. Gas valve converted: ______
c. Wiring reconnected to gas valve
and wiring connections verified: ______
d. Labels provided affixed to gas valve
and rating plate, or rating plate changed: ______
e. Test for gas leaks: ______
f. Manifold pressure tested and confirmed to
be a consistent 10.5 in WC (26.2 mbar): ______
g. Operate the dryer through one complete
cycle to ensure proper operation. ______
IMPORTANT: Conversion must be performed by competent
technicians in accordance with local and state codes.
Improper assembly or adjustments can cause hazardous
conditions.
Unregulated Gas Valve
Regulate (govern) gas externally (refer to “Supply Pressure”
in chart on
page 23 and page 24) to the correct gas pressure
for the gas being used. Operate dryer through one complete
cycle to ensure proper operation.
Regulated Gas Valve
Refer to “Gas Pressure Adjustment” on this page to adjust
the gas valve to the appropriate burner pressure listed on
page 23 and page 24. The supply pressure must also match
what is listed on page 23 and page 24 for the type of gas to be
used.
IMPORTANT: Conversions done improperly can result in a
fire or explosion!
Gas Pressure Adjustment
Disconnect electrical power to the dryer.
To adjust gas valve’s internal regulator, remove the regulator
cap with a screwdriver. Once cap is removed, a small
screwdriver can be used to turn the plastic adjustment screw
in the valve. Turn the screw clockwise to raise pressure and
counterclockwise to lower pressure.
Gas (burner) pressure is measured with the burner in operation
for all burner adjustment conditions. Therefore once the
necessary adjustments have been made, the dryer must be
operated in a heating cycle to verify that the pressure is correct.
Reconnect the electrical power and run the dryer. If the
pressure is not correct, you must discontinue the power to
the unit and make further adjustments. Repeat these steps
as many times as necessary to achieve the correct burner
pressure. Once the adjustment of the valve is complete, the
regulator cap must be replaced and sealed with, for example,
paint to prevent maladjustment by the user.
!
WARNING (CE Dryers)
This appliance must only be operated with the gas
type indicated on the dryer’s rating plate. If the
appliance is converted (gas type changed), a new
rating plate must be obtained from ADC.
Conversions done improperly can result in a fire or
explosion!
